Is it just me, or does putting on ';natural'; make up pretty difficult?

Its so hard! My friend tried to do a natural look on me and it took forever. The good news is it turned out great! You just have to be patient with it.

Peace

:-)Is it just me, or does putting on ';natural'; make up pretty difficult?
Yeah, it's harder than night time makeup...I find it hard to control my love for eyeliner..lol! Keep practising and go for what suits you!Is it just me, or does putting on ';natural'; make up pretty difficult?
It's not just you - it is seriously hard! I've been putting on makeup for years, and it takes practice. My favorite ';natural'; makeup tricks are these (this is a ';no-foundation'; process, for caucasian skin coloring):

1. Clean face and apply moisturizer.

2. Use a highlighting luminizer between the nose and cheek area and blend quickly.

3. Apply concealer to under-eye circles, zits, etc. - the usual places; tap it on lightly, and only from the inner corner to the center of the eye..don't go all the way to the outer corner of the eye, that creates ';raccoon eyes.';

4. Apply a shadow primer (for a ';no-makeup look,'; I really like Benefit's Lemon-Aid) to eyelids up to the brows. This will lighten the over-eye area and really open up your eyes without shadow. If you want a little extra brow ';zing,'; add a pale pink highlighter right under the eyebrows, but it's not really necessary.

5. Apply an eyeliner in a suitable subtle color depending upon your coloration, upper and lower lids. Keep a thin line.

6. Do your eyebrows.

7. Apply a cheek stain - I like Benefit's Benetint, but Becca's Beach Tint is okay, too - to the ';apples of your cheeks,'; which you can find by smiling; blend quickly and start out without a lot, you can add layers of color...better to experiment with TOO light than TOO much, you don't want to look like Bozo the Clown.

8. Apply a very light coat of powder to set your face makeup (optional step), then,

9. Curl eyelashes and apply mascara in a subtle shade (brown or plum).

10. If you've used Benefit's Benetint, this next step is a ';two-fer;'; - and try this AT HOME FIRST, it takes a try or two to learn it - apply a drop or two of Benetint (or other pink/rose liquid lip stain) to your lips and QUICKLY rub into your lips with a makeup sponge, staying away from the outer edges of your lips...to give your lips a natural pink flush. This step sounds weird, I know, but it is really worth doing - once you have it down, it makes you INSTANTLY prettier, really. Wait after smearing it around with the sponge and let those pretty puckers dry...then carefully blot with a tissue to remove any excess (this is simply to protect your next step, the gloss).

11. Last step: slap on a great clear gloss (I swear by Bobbi Brown's Lip Gloss in Crystal, it lasts for hours) over those flushed lips, and you're good to go!

I know it sounds long, but you can do this in minutes and look GREAT. If you feel that you really cannot LIVE without foundation, then practice using foundation (thinned with a little water spritz - less is more) only in the center of your face, over your nose and chin and ';problem areas.'; If your foundation doesn't blend into your skin, you're wearing the wrong color foundation - you should be able to put a spot of foundation on your facial skin, blend it with fingers, brush or sponge and NOT see it, it should match your skin perfectly. Once you have the right shade, you can wear it only where absolutely needed, and you can simply add it into the ';natural look'; routine above, between steps 3 and 4.

Hope this helps!!
As a rule, the more subtle the look, the harder it can be to apply. So no, it's not you. ;)

The easiest way to do a 'natural' look is to start with colors that are in the same color range, but lighter or darker. After foundation and powder (mixing your regular foundation with facial sunscreen lotion makes a nice sheer foundation that will give some coverage, even out color, and protect from the sun, but not look thick and cakey).

Use colors on your eyes that are in the same range (cool or warm) as your foundation, but darker. You can buy shadow in sets of two or more, and those will be pretty fool-proof. Go with warm browns and taupes, as they will be the easiest to blend in with the skin tone. Put a shade slightly darker than your eyelid color over the bottom of the top lid and the crease. Add darker brown in the crease and blend so there aren't any lines. Use an angle brush to put dark brown or black shadow against the lash line instead of liquid or pencil eyeliner (it will look softer).

For blush, use a cream or stick blush for the most natural look. You can apply it after foundation and before or after powder (I usually do it before). Choose a color anywhere from pink to coral to bronze (if you just want a 'sun kissed' look). Put the blush on your first two fingers and rub the fingers of both hands together. Smile big and lightly rub the blush on the apples of your cheeks in little circle motions.

For lips, go with a clear or tinted gloss, or a sheer lipstick/lipstain. The more opaque it is, the less natural it'll look. Choose anything from a berry to a warm pink depending on your skin tone.

Again, it just takes practice, but once you get it down, it'll get easier and easier to do. Once you get the hang of doing shadow in one color (like browns), you'll also notice that doing other styles of makeup gets easier too.

Hope that helps!
Natural make up can be hard to get the hang of. The ironic thing is I take longer putting on a natural make up look than I do dramatic, like say dark smokey eyes lol!! Maybe cause I wear the smokey eyes more %26amp; I can do it faster cause im so used to it, stick in there!!

I also found for some really good make up tips go onto youtube %26amp; search for ';pursebuzz'; shes really good %26amp; breaks it down step by step for you, really easy to follow tutorials :)

Good luck huni
